Project: Enhancing the health benefits of specialty grain sorghum hybrids for the U.S. food industry.
This project will build on previously established gains in knowledge from AgriLife Research on sorghum breeding and nutrition to produce hybrid sorghum genotypes that are more productive, and economically favorable to grain producers and processors while focusing on genetic traits of sorghum that are beneficial to human health, such as increased antioxidant content and starches lower in digestibility which reduces glycemic index.
