Texas Play Streets
Principal Investigator: Jacob Szeszulski, Ph.D.
The Texas Play Streets project seeks to increase youth physical activity in rural communities across the state. Play Streets refer to the temporary closure of streets, that for a specified time period (3-5 hours) create a safe, publicly accessible space for children, adolescents, and/or their families to engage in active play. Possible activities include jump rope, obstacle courses, pickle ball, basketball, water sports, and many more. Play Streets foster community engagement and promote healthier lifestyles for families by creating safe and inviting spaces for play.
